Structured, progressive courses will be taught in the Arabic medium, using a variety of up-to-date approaches, which enable learners to fully engage in overcoming the language barrier. So many people are put off the idea of even starting to learn Arabic, as they feel it is beyond their ability. May all of you Arabic enthusiasts be encouraged by accessible and funclasses, which are taught communicatively, using a step-by-step approach.   

This is a thorough and balanced programme which equips you to understand and communicate in the language common to the entire Arab world.  Throughout each course, your teacher will help you to build on language structures previously learnt, so that your level of fluency in all areas of the 4 skills is well-developed.  

There are 6 levels available to Arabic language learners.   As a beginner, learn to write the 28-letter alphabet and be able to read words of 3 to 4 letters, in only 10 hours!  As you progress, you will be equipped to read everything from billboards to books!  To make matters easier, there are no divided dialects within this classical language.  Right from the word ‘go’, you not only start learning the script, but also the practical functions of the language, which include verbal greetings, colours, basic numbers and time-telling amongst others.  By the end of the first 20 hour-course, you will be able to speak in short sentences, and to understand basic aspects of the grammar.  This is introduced in a dynamic, structured way.   Each stage builds on the previoius one, by adding vocabularyand more complex sentences.  Grammar points develop students’ understanding of tenses, patterns, verbs and all the requirements to develop good reading and written skills.

An advanced level of Arabic can be achieved with approximately 2 years’ steady language study at the centre. By this time you will be able to converse, read and write, using a wide range of topics with confidence and accuracy.   Although the advanced course focuses on Media Arabic, other texts which address various literary styles and periods will be built in to ensure a breadth and depth of study. It is of importance to note that a firm foundation in the Arabic classical language (Fus’ha), more or less guarantees you a great deal of success and a greater sense of ease in tackling any of the Arabic dialects and areas of the Arabic academic/working world you may wish to pursue.

Even at complete beginners’ level, this course is extremely practical and accessible – it equips you to get straight out and about after the first lesson, practising the  language used around you in Bahrain.   As with the Modern Standard Arabic course, your teacher uses the many means she has to hand, to communicate in the target language at all times, and to encourage you to do the same. Question and answer techniques, games, roleplay and discussion, are some of the ways which should enable you, within a short space of time, to develop your spoken Gulf Arabic skills.  All the while, this exciting approach and content, is intended to give you an increasing sense of enthusiasm and determination to reach a confident level of fluency in the spoken language.
