  Our overall teaching philosophy:

We believe it is really important for you to be taught by trained language teachers who use only the target language.  In this way you will get maximum benefit from your learning experience.

We understand each of you will approach the learning process with your own goals:  to succeed in your workplace or at school/college, understand and communicate in the native speakers’ culture, or quite simply for fun!   We aim to use an interactive-communicative approach to help you become effective and active language users in real-life situations.

  Our aims:

We are sure that by effectively teaching learning strategies which target learners’ needs, success will be inevitable.  As such we do our best at ‘Lingo-Ease’ to ensure the following:

1- Comprehension and retention of information: by means of constant review and informal assessment, which are incorporated into classes in an informal and non-threatening manner.
2- Help for individuals to understand which learning strategies can be used to help them sharpen and develop their language learning skills.
3- A balanced emphasis on the skills of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing, where required.
4- No language is spoken, other than that which is being studied, so that students have the maximum opportunity to use the target language.
5- Greater confidence is instilled in students: Language models and materials are provided and practiced extensively in the class, so that they can be used spontaneously outside the classroom.
6- Encouragement is given by the teachers, so that students actively participate in the learning process, by taking specific actions to understand and use what has been taught.

  Teaching methods:

At Lingo-Ease, we believe that eclectic (mixed) approach is best used in teaching, so that as individual students with different abilities, backgrounds and learning styles you will develop and maximize your language skills.  Here are some of our main teaching methods:

The Task-based Approach -  This method gives students the opportunity to learn effectively as they focus on the task set and language-use is more natural.

The Communicative Approach – the focus is on the language to be used and the learner i.e student involvement is stressed and interactive tasks are set, so that the learning is cooperative.

Total Physical Response – Learners physically respond to instructions given. This method is strongly emphasised in the teaching of young learners.

The Natural Approach – This method is especially important when new language input is given.  Questions are asked and listening skills are encouraged, with visuals and other materials used to aid student understanding.

The Situational Approach – This is strongly emphasised when teaching conversation skills e.g in the teaching of Gulf Arabic.  Language is presented and practiced using clearly described, contrived situations.   Group/pair work is important, as are repeated drills and lessons are tightly structured.
